Marcel Brillouin (1854-1948), French physicist and mathematician. Brillouin was one of the first to study Niels Bohr's model of the atom and his results were used by Schrodinger amongst others. Brillouin also worked on the kinetic theory of gases, thermodynamics and the theory of the tides.
