Keyhole surgery. Surgeon using keyhole (laparascopic) surgery to operate on a patient. Keyhole surgery is a minimally invasive procedure that is directed using a laparascope (not seen). The laparascope is a type of endoscope that is inserted into the patient's abdomen. It sends an image of the area being operated on to a monitor (right), which the surgeon uses to guide the surgery. Here a patient's cancerous kidney is to be removed.
