Caption

Lavandin, a sterile hybrid of common lavender, (Lavandula angustifolia) from the hills and spike lavender, (Lavandula latifolia) from the coast. It is a more robust plant than lavender and produces up to 4 times more essential oil. The oil will be added to products like cosmetics, washing powder, candles, soap, and various household cleaners. On this part of the plateau the soil is very red from iron oxides. Valensole plateau, Provence, France.
