Pemphigus foliaceus lesions. Clinical view of lesions on the back and arms of a 50-year-old man with a form of pemphigus foliaceus. This is a localised form of the disease, with features of lupus erythematosus. In this form, the condition is known as pemphigus erythematosus, or Senear-Usher syndrome. This case also has seborrhoeic aspects, affecting the sebaceous glands. Pemphigus is a general term for a group of blistering autoimmune diseases, where the immune system attacks the skin. Treatment for pemphigus conditions usually involves the use of high doses of steroids, with antibiotics to prevent infection of the blisters.
