Bowen's disease lesion on the hand of a 76-year-old woman. Bowen's disease is a rare skin disorder that can become cancerous. The lesion is a patch of flat, red, scaly skin with a well-defined edge. Treatment is by surgical removal or by freezing or cauterizing (burning) the affected area. Once removed this disorder is unlikely to recur.
