Single use syringe. Inventor Marc Koska with his K1 single-use, or auto-disable (AD), syringe. Dirty syringes are one of the major transmission routes for blood-borne diseases in the developing world and amongst drug addicts. The K1 syringe locks after one use and breaks if an attempt is made to reuse it. Seen on the screens at left are young children in the developing world playing with dirty syringes.
