Caption

The Ram's Horn squid, Spirula spirula, trawled from between 200 meters depth and the surface, Gulf of Mexico, 2016. This species lives deeper in the water column by day (500 to 1000 meters) and migrates into shallower waters to feed at night. It is a member of the deep scattering layer.
