Hyopsodus, illustration. This extinct prehistoric mammal is a small odd-toed ungulate. It fed on plants, and was found in what is now Wyoming, USA, during the Late Eocene (from 56 to 45 million years ago). It is thought to have lived in burrows and used echolocation.
