Moschops, illustration. This therapsid lived around 260 million years ago (in the later stages of the Permian) in what is today the Karoo region of South Africa. It was a herbivore, and grew to a length of some 5 metres. Therapsids, which evolved from reptiles, included the animals that later evolved into mammals.
