Caption

Oligokyphus and young, illustration. This extinct cynodont therapsid was a small herbivorous mammal-like animal that lived 227 to 180 million years ago, during the Late Triassic to Early Jurassic. Cynodonts included the animals that later evolved into mammals. This cynodont has several features that make it very closely related to mammals, including raising its young (parental care).
