Palaeosyops, illustration. This extinct prehistoric mammal is an example of a brontothere, animals related to both horses and rhinoceroses. Palaeosyops was about the size of a large cow. It lived during the Early to Middle Eocene (56 to 40 million years ago). Its fossils are found in North America.
