Sivapithecus, illustration. This extinct prehistoric ape lived from 12.5 to 8.5 million years ago, during the Miocene. Formerly known as Ramapithecus, it was at one time thought to be a human ancestor. This ape reached heights of around 1.5 metres. Its fossils have been found in India and Pakistan.
