The sequence of these bases forms the genetic code. The bases are thymine (red), cytosine (blue), adenine (green) and guanine (orange). They are composed of carbon (C), oxygen (O), nitrogen (N) and hydrogen (H). They form the links between the two sugar-phosphate strands (yellow, blue) in the DNA molecule. Thymine links with adenine and guanine links with cytosine via hydrogen bonds.
