Keratoacanthoma on the skin of a 67 year old woman. A keratoacanthoma is a benign growth on the skin. It generally grows to around two centimetres in diameter over a few weeks before slowly disappearing. The cause is unknown, but may be related to exposure to sunlight. Although harmless, the nodule is often removed for cosmetic reasons if it does not disappear by itself.
