Recovering gold from computer scrap. Beaker with a solution of containing gold flakes recovered from scrap computer parts. The solution is a mixture of hydrochloric acid and hydrogen peroxide. The green colour is due to the presence of other metals such as copper and nickel. The mixture was left for a week, as well as adding oxygen with a bubbling device. The result was filtered to remove the scrap computer parts, resulting in the solution seen here. Further filtering and chemical extraction processes were carried out to isolate the gold.
