Jupiter impact site. Infrared image of a large impact site on Jupiter's south polar region that appeared on 19th July 2009. It is thought to have been caused by a small comet or asteroid. A trail of debris can be seen to the northwest (upper left) of the impact site. Image taken by NASA's Infrared Telescope Facility in Mauna Kea, Hawaii, USA, on 20th July 2009.
