Dupuytren's contracture surgery. Surgeon making an incision in the hand of a patient with Dupuytren's contracture. This disorder causes one or more fingers to become fixed in a bent position. It occurs when tissue in the palm of the hand thicken and shorten, preventing the tendons attached to the fingers from moving freely. Severe contracture is corrected with surgery.
