Red peppers drying. These are the fruit of the apiscum plant, which is native to the Americas. This fruit is used in cooking, with some varieties being used as a spice. It is cultivated in large numbers in the tropical and subtropical regions of Central American and South America. The peppers are spread on the ground to dry in the sunlight after harvesting.
