Fish shoaling around the Tree of Life sculpture at Nemo's Garden. This is an underwater farming project located in the bay of Noli, Savona, Italy. Crops are grown at depths of 6 to 10 metres in underwater chambers (biospheres) that act like greenhouses. The isolation of the crops means that no pesticides are needed. Nutrients are supplied as a liquid fertiliser using a hydroponic system. The air is replenished by scuba divers who also tend to the plants as they grow. The biosphere domes are made of acrylic and hold around 2000 litres of air. Webcams are used to monitor the biospheres, and sensors measure carbon dioxide and oxygen levels, as well as humidity, air temperature and light levels. There are five biospheres, forming a pentagon around the central Tree of Life sculpture, as well as an observation biosphere in which divers can rest. Nemo's Garden was founded in 2012 by Sergio Gamberini. Filmed in July 2017.
