Haemangioma on the lip of a 1-year-old boy. Haemangiomas are benign (non-cancerous) tumours arising from the endothelial cells that line blood vessels, here a capillary. They are characterised by an increased number of normal or abnormal vessels filled with blood. For a close-up of the haemangioma, see image C038/2317.
