Sabre-toothed cat mandible. Fossilised mandible of a sabre-toothed cat. This fossil was found mixed with bones of the Little Foot Australopithecus skeleton discovered in the Sterkfontein Caves in South Africa in 1994-1998. The sabre-toothed cats, now extinct, were found worldwide from around 42 million years ago to 11,000 years ago.
