Zeolite catalyst on a tantalum wire mesh, coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM). Zeolites are hydrated aluminosilicate minerals and have a micro-porous structure. This zeolite, boron BETA-zeolite, is used in the petrochemical industry as a catalyst for the preparation of amines. To see a close-up of these synthetically-grown crystals, see image A632/0052.
