Nickel nitrate crystals, polarised light micrograph. Nickel nitrate is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Ni(NO3)2. The central nickel atom is surrounded by six water molecules. Nickel nitrate is a carcinogen and is toxic to aquatic organisms and is irritating to the eyes, skin and the respiratory tract when inhaled as dust.
