Lice comb collection. This array of lice combs is part of a collection made by the US inventor and entomologist Barbara L. Thorne. Thorne has invented and patented her own lice comb, designed to fit three different types of head. The collection consists of over one hundred models of lice combs from around the world. Lice are insect parasites, several species of which can infest human hosts. Head lice feed on dead skin on the scalp and lay their eggs there. Lice combs are used to remove the lice and their eggs.
