Interstitial pneumonia (infiltrating lung disease) in sarcoidosis. Coloured axial computed tomography (CT) scan through the lungs (blue) of a 28-year-old male patient with sarcoidosis, showing interstitial pneumonia. Sarcoidosis is a disease in which abnormal collections of chronic inflammatory cells (granulomas) form as nodules in multiple organs. In this case lymphatic micronodules and connective tissue thickenings have developed in the lungs producing interstitial pneumonia, inflammation in the tissue around the alveoli (air sacs) of the lungs.
