Exploratory hand surgery. Surgeon inserting a silicone spacer rod into a patient's finger. The rod is being used after exploratory surgery found that one of the finger tendons was ruptured. The exploratory surgery was carried out after the patient had persistent pain after a fracture of his middle phalanx (finger) bone. There will be further treatment with tendon transfer surgery.
