Glue ear, otoscope view. Glue ear is a chronic case of otitis media (middle ear infection) in which an accumulation of fluid in the middle ear causes hearing loss. This view shows an early stage of glue ear in a child. The tympanic membrane (eardrum) is dull, is not infected, and there are a few radial blood vessels on the surface.
