Two-dimensional graphene superconductor. Computer illustration showing the molecular structure of the first purely carbon based two-dimensional superconductor. It consists of a two-dimensional superlattice created by stacking two graphene sheets with a small twist angle of 1.1 degree. Graphene is a single layer of graphite. It is composed of hexagonally arranged carbon atoms (spheres) linked by strong covalent bonds (rods).
