MarCO CubeSats at Mars. Illustration of the MarCO (Mars Cube One) satellites operating at Mars as part of the InSight Mars lander mission. These two miniature satellites (examples of CubeSats) were launched with NASA's InSight (Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport) lander, which is designed for studying the interior of Mars. The Mars Cube One miniature satellites will fly past Mars during the entry, descent and landing (EDL) phase and relay data from the lander back to Earth (upper left). InSight and MarCO were launched on 5 May 2018. They are scheduled to reach Mars in November 2018.
