Black-thighed falconets (Microhierax fringillarius). Female (left) and male (right) back-thighed falconets perched on a branch. At the size of a sparrow and with a wingspan of only between 27-32 cm, these are the world's smallest bird of prey. They are native to Brunei Darussalam, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. Photographed in Malaysia.
