Dental malocclusion correction. Close-up of the mouth of a patient whose upper right canine (upper left) has been shortened to allow for a crown to be fitted to correct a dental malocclusion. A malocclusion is misalignment between the teeth of the upper and lower jaws as they close. Here, the upper canine was strongly protruding from the dental arch. A metal pin will be implanted into the canine root and a dental crown will be fixed to it to restore the function of the tooth.
