Dental malocclusion correction. Close-up of the mouth of a patient whose upper right canine (upper left) has been replaced with a crown to correct a dental malocclusion. A malocclusion is misalignment between the teeth of the upper and lower jaws as they close. Here, the upper canine was strongly protruding from the dental arch. The canine was shorted and a metal pin implanted into the root. The crown was then fixed to the pin to restore the function of the tooth.
