NGC 5559 spiral galaxy. Hubble Space Telescope (HST) optical image of the spiral galaxy NGC 5559. The spiral arms of this galaxy are glowing with new stars (blue) being born. This galaxy is around 220 million light years from Earth, in the constellation of Bootes. The image data was obtained by the HST's Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3). Image published in 2017.
