Migrating cancer cell. Illustration of a cancer cell in a blood vessel or lymph node, with numerous filipodia (thread-like processes) at its leading edge. These features are characteristic of highly mobile cells, and enable cancerous cells to spread rapidly round the body, and invade other organs and tissues (metastasis). The cells may clump to form tumours.
