Caption

African ground squirrel (Xerus sp.). These rodents live in open arid areas of southern Africa where they feed on grasses, roots, seeds and insects. They are social animals living in colonies or between 5 and 30 individuals that dig extensive burrow systems. Photographed in Etosha National Park, Namibia.
