Spinal canal. Fly-through coloured 3D computed tomography (CT) scan travelling from the top of the backbone (the foramen magnum opening in the skull) along the whole spinal canal, to the base of the backbone and the sacrum. The rear of the vertebrae are at bottom. The spinal canal is the space within the backbone where the spinal cord and its membranes is enclosed by the surrounding vertebrae.
