Cybele, mother goddess. Illustration of the remains of a statue of the mother goddess Cybele. In Greek and Roman mythology, Cybele is the mother of the Gods. She was originally an Anatolian mother goddess (from Phrygia), later partially assimilated into Greek culture. In Rome, she was known as 'Magna Mater' (Great Mother). Artwork published in 1888.
