Tyrannosaurus dinosaurs. Computer illustration showing a number of Tyrannosaurus sp. dinosaurs (centre) with other dinosaurs in a prehistoric landscape. Tyrannosaurs dinosaurs were carnivorous theropods that lived around 68 to 66 million years ago, during the Maastrichtian age of the Late Cretaceous Period. They were found throughout what is now western North America, on what was then an island continent known as Laramidia. Here they are depicted with a mantle of fur-like feathers as some studies now suggest they had.
