Milky Way over Mount Balang. The Milky Way is our galaxy seen from the inside, forming a band of stars and nebulae stretching across the sky. The central bulge of the galaxy is at upper left, with many nebulae visible. On the skyline are Mars (red, lower right) with the red supergiant star Antares to its left. Mount Balang (5040 metres) is in Sichuan, China, on the edge of the Tibetan Plateau. Photographed on 20 September 2014.
