Caption

Light micrograph of prostate cancer from a transrectal ultrasound-guided needle biopsy. This is a low-grade (least aggressive) cancer (Gleason score 3+3=6). It shows well-formed discrete neoplastic glands lined by a single layer of cells. The tumor cells have enlarged hyperchromatic nuclei and prominent nucleoli. The glands seen on the bottom right are benign atrophic glands.
