Abrikossoff's tumour. Close-up of an Abrikossoff's tumour (granular cell tumour) on the cheek of a 55-year-old female patient. This rare tumour is normally benign (non-cancerous), usually appearing in the skin and arising either from nerve cells or the Schwann cells that form the sheath of nerve fibres. Most of these tumours are surgically excised and do not recur. Around half occur on the head and neck.
