Concordia crew member inspecting scientific equipment. Concordia Station, a research station in Antarctica, was completed in 2005. It is over 1000 kilometres inland, high on the Antarctic plateau at an altitude of 3233 metres, at the location called Dome C. It is a permanent, all-year research station, the third to be built in Antarctica, and is jointly operated and run by France and Italy, though researchers come from all over the world. Concordia Station is used for meteorological and glaciological research, and also for astronomical research.
