Mustard gas, molecular model. Mustard gas is not a gas in actuality but a viscous liquid. It has the chemical name bis-(2-chloroethyl)-sulfide. It is a nerve agent and a strong vesicant (blister causing chemical) used in chemical warfare. Mustard gas has the chemical formula C4H8Cl2S.Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour-coded: carbon (C, grey), hydrogen (H, turquoise), chlorine (Cl, green) and sulphur (S, yellow).
