Magnesium reacting with acid. Spiral of a ribbon of the metal magnesium (Mg) reacting with hydrochloric acid (HCl) to produce magnesium chloride (MgCl) and bubbles of hydrogen gas (H2). The magnesium chloride dissolves in solution. The equation for the reaction is: Mg + 2HCl --> MgCl2 + H2.
