Coloured digital angiogram (X-ray) of the skull (side view) of a young patient who suffered a road accident and is in the process of brain death. A catheter (blue tube) has been inserted into the left cerebral artery (at centre) and a dye is being injected in the posterior fossa (cerebellum, upper centre) for 60 seconds at the rate of one image every 2 seconds. This technique applies to four arterial intracerebral axes. The lack of any dye being seen (intracerebral opacification) confirms brain death.
