Caption

Coloured light micrograph of human chromosomes from a lymphocyte blood cell in a patient with Bloom's syndrome, showing sister chromatid exchange (SCE). The dark areas show an increase in chromosome breakage and rearrangement. This rare genetic disorder, also known as congenital telangiectatic erythema, leads to symptoms of Bloom's syndrome, including small body size and dilated blood vessels (redness of skin on the face).
