Anthony Leggett (right), British-US physicist. Anthony Leggett (b.1938) is widely recognised as a world leader in the theory of low-temperature physics, and he was awarded the 2003 Nobel Prize in Physics for his pioneering work on superfluidity. He is an Honorary Fellow of the UK's Institute of Physics and was knighted (KBE) by Queen Elizabeth II in 2004 "for services to physics". Although he is British, he has remained at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, since 1982 and holds dual US/UK citizenship. Photographed in 1983.
