Henry Kendall (1926-1999), US physicist. Kendall is best known for his particle physics experiments with Jerome Friedman and Richard Taylor at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, USA. This research provided the first experimental evidence that protons had an internal structure (later known to be quarks). This pioneering work earned Kendall, Friedman and Taylor the 1990 Nobel Prize in Physics.
