Pliny's 'Natural History', 1519 edition. The original 'Natural History' (Naturalis Historia) was written by Roman author Pliny the Elder (born Gaius Plinius Secundus, AD 23-79). This work and excerpts from it have been republished in many forms over the years, with influential copies and translations being produced during the Renaissance and later years. It is one of the largest works to have survived from the time of the Roman Empire. This edition was produced in Venice in 1519 by Italian scholars Ermolao Barbaro and Joannes Camers, and edited by J. B. Palmarius.
