Badger atom bomb test, showing the fireball at the moment of detonation. This nuclear weapons test took place on 18 April 1953, at the Nevada Test Site, USA. Codenamed Badger, it was the 6th test in the Operation Upshot-Knothole series. It was detonated from a tower, and had a yield of 23 kilotons. This test was also part of the Desert Rock exercises, where US Army troops undertook nuclear battlefield training.
